When things get you down and you feel you can't get up...

When you feel stuck in the same place and you wish you weren't there...

 When you think things are too scary to tackle and it would be easier to stay where you are....

And when things seem a little sideways and you feel they're about to topple...

Just remember:
The best way out is always through.
                                                                     ~Robert Frost~

Hmm....best way out is through.
Sounds good to me.
Drive through a few cities and towns, through the border, through a few states....all the way down south as far as I can get.
To heat.
EXACTLY what some dear people I know are doing....

(And as another blizzard once again pummels me with snow, I'm wondering why I didn't follow through with that same idea....)

{For us up here in the north, it may be the reprieve we need.}

Staying Grounded

So I've noticed many of you have little green things in your photos now.
Little green shoots popping themselves out of a warming up ground.

I am going to admit it.
I'm jealous.
And I know that's never a good thing to want what someone else has.
But I am a tad bit tired of....WINTER.
I think we all are.

I'm still trying to find the beauty in my 6 month long winter.
Staying grounded in a sense so I don't lose it the next time I see green.

Beauty.....can be in white.

(sigh) Who am I kidding.
My eyes can't even seem to see in color anymore.

This here is my bird bath and thinking bench.

Umm....here is some sort of berry.
But it grew LAST summer.
Does that count?

The road I drive on every day.
And this is pretty good for road conditions. Only a bit of ice.
(Note to self: Mailbox is coming up on the left...)

My Sanity comes in the form of (ironically)...
being outdoors.

If I can just hang on for one more month.
Or two.
The snow should be gone by May.......

Building Tips

When feeling a bit confined.....

....or a bit pent up....
....it's okay to let off steam.

Just do it productively.

And all this I am slowly learning..... as I seem to be a very
long work in progress.

on "perfectionism".....

Note to self:
Not everything has to be perfect and aligned and in order....
to be beautiful.

City Trip~ and Life's Riddle

A Trip to the City puts my Country Life {and other things}
in Perspective.

And then I get to where I was wishing to be.

And I look around.

And It's a scary place to be.
When you see where you came from~~~
and where you are now {once the wish is granted.}

Then you begin to wish you would have been content in
the first place.
Seeing where you Used to be, and realizing where you now are, makes you think it wasn't so bad at the start.

Feels good to get back down to earth and remember that you actually DO belong where you started.

~Bright Side~

I was given these flowers as a hostess gift ....
and they brightened my week.

(For instance....)

I  slid my van in to the ditch- yet again.
{The brighter side ....}

Upon coming out of the gym one morning, I slid on a patch of ice, "gracefully" flew up in to the air, and landed on my rear.
{The brighter side....}
{And the ice meant that the weather had- at one point- been warm enough to melt snow!}

I have consumed at LEAST 3 times the amount of sugar this week....due to extra chocolate and desserts around the house.
{The brighter side...}

2 extra bills came in the mail which I wasn't expecting, my van needs to be expensively fixed, and I just found out I've paid a company twice for one item- but they never bothered to tell me.
{The brighter side....}

We had another dump of snow this week, and tonight it is supposed to once again hit almost -30 degrees celcius....and that's without the wind.
{Brighter side...}

There's a bright side to every story.
You just have to know where to look!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The Not-So-Slow Turtle

Warning: The Turtle Item below does not move slowly.
In fact, the one below was gone within 24 hours of its arrival.

Take care you keep it well hidden...
{unless you are in to sharing}.

Take a tub of ice cream....

Layer it on top of a chocolate cookie crumb crust
which has been covered in pecans.

Layer this caramel sauce somewhere in between.
As much as you want.
{It IS Fat Free}

After you have hidden all the cookie crust, pecans, caramel....

....add another layer of pecans, caramel, and chocolate.
Chocolate chips, chocolate bars,
or even Nutella works well.

Another layer of the vanilla/chocolate swirl ice cream:
Add as many Turtles as you want and cover it
all in Caramel Sauce (again).....

And voila!
(I don't usually follow a recipe for these kinds of matters.
In whatever sugar mood I feel so inclined,
therein lies the ingredients and amounts of.)

Eat quick.
It moves faster than the average Turtle.

Mmmmmm...I love turtles!

Give Way

~give place~

~So I'm curious.

Just when is it that you 'Give Way'?
When do you stop thinking that it's 'your way or the highway'?
When do you bend, and just when do you stand firm?
When is it you say "enough is enough" and "forget it"?

And then there's this:
 just when do you decide that it doesn't really matter....and you give it up so that Giving Way isn't even an issue?

Just curious.~

Dog's Life

There lives a dog named Duke.
But sadly he's found too cute.

He gets away with anything.
He chews anything left on the ground.
The ground is frozen yet he has still managed to dig and uproot his owner's flower bulbs.

He finds his way into the garbage container and decides he needs to sort it.
He's chewed through his leash, stolen the other dogs' Dog House, likes to sniff and follow any trail, and is far too friendly when he's greeting.

He needs Discipline.

{I need a break from this unruly character
Or rather- my yard does.}

And I often find he needs a break from himself.....

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.
