When you reach the end of the hike, it opens up into a view of 2 beautiful lakes surrounded by walls of mountain rock....a favorite place for the avid mountain climber.
(The REAL mountain climbers.)
As I watched this guy make his way up the face of this particular side, it struck me as to how we all seem to be climbing.
Somewhere.
Climbing up, climbing over, climbing across, climbing in....but we all seem to be on an adventure of a climb.
I guess it doesn't matter where you climb- so long as when you get to the end of the climb, you can be proud of what you accomplished.
And even more importantly...proud of the way that you handled the climb to wherever it is you wanted to be...
I hope to look back and see that I climbed with grace.
At the moment grace is lacking.
Think I need to step back and reassess the climb I am on.
For if we don't climb with honor, sincerity, a purpose...what good is the climb?
It is merely a climb..... to no where.
Happy Climbing

Climbing would be so exhilarating!!!
Thanks for making me think Dawn. Am I climbing? Am I climbing in the wrong place?
While I evaluate that, I'll keep going one step at a time.
I find it hard to believe that you could be lacking grace, but I understand what you mean. We can always strive to do and be better. I'm sure you'll reach your destination and be proud.
What a wonderful metaphor for life!
Love these pics - shows us small we really are.
Whew, it makes my hands tingle just to look at him!
A great post Dawn. I feel that we all have mountains to climb. I know I have climbed my fair share and no doubt have many more positive climbs ahead of me as I grow. ;)
Fab photos and great food for thought here!!

dearheart, may your unsettledness drift back down into some sort of comfortable place.
I thought you were going to say that was you. I was preparing myself.
I know I could never climb a mountain like that just because I am more content to watch.
I think we all are always climbing somewhere. You always make me think.
I used to enjoy climbing, but before doing something like that I'd want to be "on belay" Is he free climbing?
I love to climb, but on my bicycle!
Great. I love climbing, but I am a little affraid of high.
Great post...makes you think about what you are doing in your life!
I'm always impressed at those who can climb like this! You have to be in great shape and driven. Which are elements you possess! great discipline!
It's important to think.
I thought that was you....was relieved to find out it wasnt..nice post..
Does it count if you climb sideways? :)
I am glad to have found your blog and so glad you visited mine. You inspire me to excercise more.
Oh I love the way your words strike deep in my soul. You are very wise for someone so young.
Funny when I first seen the first pic I thought to myself What is Dawn doing now? Very cool scary but cool.
I am secretly glad you stick to running, canoeing biking, swimming etc. etc. you are amazing. B
hmm made think what a great post.
Thank you for this thought-provoking post. I agree that life is a series of climbs. :)
However, it looks like the guy in you photos is climbing alone up that rock face. I hope not as that seems dangerous to me. Hiking on trails is a whole other matter.
I am always inspired to think after reading your posts. Love them.
we are all climbing a mountain, dawn. one foot in front of the other, always looking forward!! you inspire me and so many others!!
Great outlook on life, Dawn !
Lovely shots - gave me weak knees, however - heights just aren't my forté.
I am so with you on hoping to look back and see that I climbed with grace. I love that. I am loving this passage right now - Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NASB) - it talks about the challenges of life and his response to them, and how we have feet like hind's feet. Look up a hind (maybe you know about those deer). Anyway, they climb and are so swift footed. I've found rest in that.
I have been so off the blogosphere. I have hardly kept up with any blogs, I'm finally reading a few of your posts! Miss you :). Hang in there, friend!

love and light
LOL...The only mountain I will ever climb is the mountain of life...much to scary the real ones.
Very nice thoughts today. That guy is no ropes , I need some security. I did a lot of no ropes when I was invicable as a younger lad.I still don't let too much tie me down.
Is that liitle old you on that big old mountain, lol. Man you have got guts! Richard
just keep climbing, climbing, climbing. oh wait...
;o)
On that note, I think I will go climb........in bed. Thanks for the inspiration as always. Take care.
The thing for me is... to have a good Belayer. Not so good at climbing, but I have an iron will. xoxo
I'm struggling to even climb out of bed this morning... and there will be no grace about it when I do...:-)
I really admire people who can do this. I use all my strength to get through my class and a full week of work. :-)
and some of those climbs are pretty scary
