The weathered boards.
Windows for eyes.
The latch that's been used to open the door a thousand times over.
Basketball games played against its walls.
Hinges that squeak every time the door opens at chore time.
Still standing tall and proud.

You captured some wonderful photos here. I love the color.
Dawn if only walls could talk eh? I LOVE your photos, you've captured the true essence of this old barn.
what a great looking barn! nice shots!
Lovely barn and warm thoughts.Liked the hoop, i never learned to dribble until I was about 12, not much control on dirt. When I look at each barn I love to imagine all the fun that they have seen.
Nice tribute to an old friend :O)
Beautiful!
Great pictures Dawn! Love the weathered basketball hoop the most. Some bragging rights were won there for sure.
What a wonderful story told in pictures!
Old barns are better than a new barn any old day of the week. Great shots!
Now that's a barn!!
Every old barn has to have a basketball goal :). I've spent hours play ball in old barns.
beautiful photos/story...
Nice picture story...very well preserved barn and still in use...thats a good thing!
This is really lovely! Being from South Africa we only see those barns in the movies or on TV. Super!
These photos show a happy well used time of the past....love your captures
Oh the memories! Everyone has a place like that old barn to remember and cherish.
Oh Granpa's barn is amazing but the memories are extra special I am sure. Your photos are beautiful. Lucky Gran kids. Merry Christmas Dawn and enjoy the holidays. B
Great old barn! I would love to go back to where I grew up to see if my great-grandparents' barn is still there!
My childhood is filled with old barns. We raised tobacco until I was out of school. There's nothing like the smell of a tobacco barn. Or a hay loft, for that matter. This is beautiful.
Lovely barn. My cousins had one with rafters so high and the hay mow was high up too we would jump out of the window holding onto a rope and swing inside and fall in the hay. Some of the best times I ever had.
Oh how I love that you not only capture the shot but lure us in with the details...
FANTASTIC close ups! I'd love a peek inside, too.
Another wonderful and sympathetic series, Dawn. You remind me that one of these days I really should take the basket down. No one has shot a ball at it in two decades.
There's something special about red barns. Your Grandpas barn is lovely.. how nice that he shares it with his Grand-kids.
Have a Merry Christmas, Dawn.
Hugs,
Pam
Nice. My grandparents had a farm, and I spent my summers there. Barns, especially red ones, really bring me back.

Hi Dawn! So nice to hear from you again. Hope all is well and that you continue to run, bike and swim!
This is not only a splendid-looking old barn, but your post is a fine tribute to "grandpa." I'm sure he is pleased!
This brought back so many memories for me. I grew up in Kansas and my grandparents had a farm and a red barn that we would play in all the time!
What a marvellous and lovely barn. A treasure trove of family memories!
I love the detail shots! Very nice!!
Lovely images of a beautiful old building.
What a gorgeous old barn! I love it! It reminds me of my grandparent's farm.
Wow, I sure love the views you give. I never get the opportunity to get this close to most of the barns I photograph.
My barn can be seen here at Time Stand Still
awesome Barn it that the one on the photo you sent me....
What wonderful weathered wood!
What a meaningful heritage. So beautiful.
Beautiful shots of your grandpas barn.
I'm running very behind on comments this week, so sorry!
I hope you walked thru & explored twice... once for me! heheheee
What a beauty! Will you be posting inside shots next week for Barn Charm? We rarely ever get to see inside the barns we shoot! =) I love all the different shots you've taken here & esp the light up toward the peak.
Thanks so much for joining this week's Barn Charm, Dawn...
