Landscape Drive-Bys

Not liking the "flying method" as means for transportation,
(or being able to afford it that often),
I spend hours of time driving to places I want to be during holidays.

As I scrolled through captures over this past year of places we went,
I was amazed at the scenes one can view from the seat of a 4 wheeled vehicle:)

I also realize that I'm drawn to places with mountains
and wide open sky.

And I swear that every time I see some sort of hill or mountain....the words that slip out of my mouth are,

"I would just love to run up that hill!"

I think I'm going to need some new Trail shoes.

Looks like those hills are certainly worth the drive, and the run I would imagine. :)

I do prefer driving to flying. I like seeing the scenery and passing through towns...big and small.

I grew up in a family where the long distance drive was simply an accepted part of who we were. Every few months, my parents would load the wagon and take us to see family wherever they lived.

I wouldn't trade those memories for anything, though if I could go back I'd have a better camera in my hand. Fortunately, we've become a driving family with our own kids, and now I bring along ways to remember the moments we create along the way.

Life's about the journey, and you've captured that sentiment so exquisitely with these amazing photos. I can always count on you to inspire, Dawn.

These are so beautiful. I used to keep a disposable camera in my car at all times. I loved the pics that I would get from the road. I called them my driving pics. Haven't done that in a long time. Maybe I should give it another go.

Yup---WOW! Amazing, scenic, jaw dropping beauty. Good eye and great photography. But I'll let you do the running. I'll cheer you on and take lots of pictures.

Some of those "hills" may require climbing ropes as well as good shoes!
Great scenery. Much of it looks a lot like Utah.

Huh... funny.... I don't ever think that thought about running up the hill. :D My thoughts run more along the lines of "I would just love to run DOWN that hill!" xoxo

Excellent mountain pics.

Love the mountain shots. I always laugh when you post your mountain pics and I compare them to our "mountains" or hills as you would probably think of them..

I enjoy looking at hills too but I must tell you not one time did "I would just love to run up that hill" even entered my mind much less came out of my mouth:) The picture before the last one was amazing.

Wow, what pictures! :-)

I'd take the hill over the treadmill. Or wrapping presents.

My God---those shots are drop-dead gorgeous.

Beautiful... Let me guess, is the last photo taken near Hurricane, UT? And the 3 to the last (red hills) near Cedar City? (Or Sedona, AZ)?

Beautiful! I love seeing the beauty of the mountains, hills, skies...but I have no desire to run those hills even if I could:)

Those shots are GORGEOUS!

Your pictures as always are so great.
That is so funny about you wanting to run up a hill when you see it.
I still think to myself, Oh I would love to take a horse and go climb those mountains.Especially when I am in New Mexico and Arizona.

I detect a preference for mountains and an absence of people. Nice scenes, Dawn. You pull over to take these shots, right?
