paying attention

This barn is exactly 3.68 kilometers from my house.....(or 2.3 miles for my southern friends;)

I know this,
because it stands on the side of the road up on a hill on my Country Road Running Route.

I had never paid it attention before,
until  I had to drive in to this particular  yard to drop something off one September day.

I often wish I could move around a bit more,
see new things,
experience life somewhere else.

But the closer I look,
the more I concentrate on detail...
newness is around me everywhere I look.

Funny all the little things I miss and sum it up as routine.
I'm just not paying attention.

That is a perfect picturesque red barn!! You live near the best red barn I think I've ever seen. Is that your photo and if so could I use it for reference for a painting...please.

Funny how we often miss remarkable things right under our noses.

Now that would be a nice running route.

And, I can relate to missing sites that nearly jump out and bump me in the noggin.

Thanks for the reminder Dawn.

I'm sorry, all I can think of is thank goodness I don't have to paint it!

Who does (really pay attention?) I find myself marvelling at how different the sky is every morning - the hues, the clouds, the feel... I often wish photography could really capture it all, and then realise that some things are meant to just be enjoyed in the moment...

It's a beauty of a barn. That first image has such vibrant shades of blue, red and green. Lovely.

what a gorgeous barn! i know what you mean about paying attention...every time we go through some little old town around here i think how neat it is and how many things there are to photograph but then i think there must be the same neat stuff here, i'm just not paying attention!

Ever since I started taking my camera with me when have to visit other towns for work, I have really been noticing the details of each one.
I love the vibrancy of colour in this barn (was it really that bright?) And, not being familiar with the workings of barns, my first thought was about that little dormer you zeroed in on!

I love this! I've been noticing these little new things a lot lately too. Something you've never noticed before but somehow managed to catch your eye this hundred and first trip by.

We could all pay a little more attention to the world around us. Hope you're doing well!

That's a beautiful barn! That first shot should be framed! Love it!

It seems like when I was younger I didn't notice things as much as I do now. I see beauty all around me, even in the smallest things.
Good thoughts, Dawn!

Such a good lesson. It is a true gift to be able to enjoy what has been in our back yards all the time just waiting to be discovered. Take care my restless friend. It is truly beautiful. B

Such a wonderful BRIGHT red barn. Love the colors in your photos!

As with most of your readers I'm also a big fan of red barns. I did a post on why some barns were painted red in the early days, and the best reason that I'm buying is the fact that the paint would protect the wood. Which makes a lot of sense to me. Richard

Isn't that just the way it is, you have looked at something a million times and then, on a certain day, you see it the way you never did before. Lovely barn.

You sure live in a beautiful place Dawn. A few more years of global warming and maybe the winters will be bearable too :-).

Much as I love the sentiment, if I applied it to where I currently live on a 24/7/365 basis, I reckon I'd blow a fuse:-)
