Crying over You

I remember this walk through my yard one summer day.
Of course we had more rain than sun, so this was a normal view through my camera lens.

As I sit here tonight listening to the wind bang on my window....telling me that snow could arrive tomorrow, I am trying not to cry over a summer that didn't fully appear this year.
(I AM grateful for the days we DID have....but somehow I feel a bit ripped off;)

I am a lover of all things full of color, and looking out my window today I noticed that the white sky of Alberta winter is headed this way.
Yet again.

Thankfully  I took MANY pictures of color over the last few months....despite raindrops in my eyes...and I am going to pull them out to stare at them when this white world closes in on me for another 6 months.
~i swear winter only left a few weeks ago~

One can always find some sort of  bright side:

My skis have been loudly yelling at me to take
them from their shed storage~
 I will soon be able to quiet them down.

last summer rays

By no means am I ending my sporadic trips to the beach at night.
No way
.
But I'm beginning to realize that as summer draws to a close....

the light seems to fade a bit more quickly.

My mind seems to gather and store treasured moments~
as if needed as warmth for the winter months which lie ahead.

Everyone seems to be preparing or looking  or planning~
rather than the summer "laid~back~ness".

A certain melancholy lingers in the air ~
as if wanting to mimic the Fall as it creeps in to do its work.

And I can't help but wonder~
just where DID The Summer go?

Perfect Timing

Packing up after a relaxing Beach Day~
the clouds began rolling in - (yet again).
~
Sometimes, timing IS everything.

Last night....

I went out with  this guy...

We hopped into these...

And saw all this:
~~~~~
Then...we went for these:
(but don't tell our kids)
Thanks to my sister and bro-in-law who took the boys to football so we could have this evening.
-And we are truly sorry for breaking your shelf in the garage when we borrowed your kayak:(-
 Trying to get a date in before our crazy fall schedule starts and his harvest begins.
We usually don't see each other much this time of year....so grabbing moments like these keeps us sane...
sort of:)
July Skies
Every time I vacation it's amazing to me how different the sky can be from place to place.
I'm a sky watcher, constantly looking up and forever being amazed by how
different the world above us can be.
Returning home, I have to say I like my sky best.
It always seems so open and massive....I love my prairie sky.
I cannot believe July is gone.
It was a month full of beautiful sky, and by the looks of the pictures on my camera, I must have been constantly looking upward. :)
I am looking forward to what August Skies may hold.
Summer Reds
~~~~~~~~

And on that note....I need a camera.
The majority (99%) of the pictures I post are taken with the camera on my cell phone.
All of you out there with picture blogs...what do you use?
Any suggestions? I  NEED to go camera shopping.....

Summer Berry

My Strawberries have arrived.

After all our work...we have fruit.

I happen to think strawberries are one of the
nicest things about summer.
~~~
Strawberries have an awful lot of potential.
They can be so many things....
strawberry shortcake, strawberry pie, strawberry salad, strawberry jam, strawberry yogurt, strawberries and cream, strawberry cheesecake, strawberry smoothies, strawberry muffins, strawberry mousse, strawberry tea, strawberry custard....
and of course, just a simple little strawberry on its own has great potential.
Afternoon Walk
Yesterday,
on my first summer afternoon walk.....
"Summer afternoon, summer afternoon; to me those
have always been the two most beautiful words in the
English language."
