Staying Grounded

So I've noticed many of you have little green things in your photos now.
Little green shoots popping themselves out of a warming up ground.

I am going to admit it.
I'm jealous.
And I know that's never a good thing to want what someone else has.
But I am a tad bit tired of....WINTER.
I think we all are.

I'm still trying to find the beauty in my 6 month long winter.
Staying grounded in a sense so I don't lose it the next time I see green.

Beauty.....can be in white.
Right?

(sigh) Who am I kidding.
My eyes can't even seem to see in color anymore.

This here is my bird bath and thinking bench.

Umm....here is some sort of berry.
But it grew LAST summer.
Does that count?

The road I drive on every day.
And this is pretty good for road conditions. Only a bit of ice.
(Note to self: Mailbox is coming up on the left...)
~~~~
My Sanity comes in the form of (ironically)...
being outdoors.
If I can just hang on for one more month.
Or two.
The snow should be gone by May.......
Having such a longer winter makes you appreciate spring even more once it comes! Take comfort in the fact that it WILL come. Seasons are a constant. Just hang on a bit more! :D And if it makes you feel better, we're supposed to get snow here this weekend - which hasn't happened in 12 years!
I am an avid, enthusiastic, passionate lover of winter. As for your photos here, my favorites are the first one with the fence, and the last one with the sunset skis. Both are awesome! * applause *
I really like your ice skates and your skis. Not to mention it is really beautiful. You will have lots of green to look at when it finally does arrive. I will be looking at brown, lots and lots of brown. :)
I agree that winter seems very long this year. But I do think our reward for a frozen winter will be a beautiful summer.
Great post - I saw lots of beauty in your white. But I know it's because I can view it from here... :) That shot of you on the cross-country skies is fantastic!
Ah! Yes... that berry counts. :) I thought of you this morning as the snow swirled once again after weeks of nothing! I'm not complaining... but I thought, "Suck it up, Allison... Dawn has had way more snow than you!". :D xoxo
I don't think we were meant to live here during the winter....some days it is painful!!
Oh yeah, I'm with you... trying to enjoy the beauty that is winter (it is only February, after all) but longing for the spring which appears on so many others blogs. Your photos, as always, are lovely.
Oh Dawn,
Hang in there because there is ALWAYS srping after winter...you can count on that! Now, how long it will take is another questions, but hey, think of how much fun you'll have enjoying the spring when it finally gets to you!
I love winter and used to both skate (speed and hockey) and cross country ski when I was young. But I do recall winters in Sweden that went from November to April so I do understand how you feel. And then when spring burst out in nature, it was so well worth waiting for. No better feeling than that kind of spring fever. It won't be long now.--Inger
Dawn I have a wee confession to make...I was jealous a while back when you were on holidays and you came home with BEAUTIFUL sunshiny photos,but seeing these, well now I'm not jealous anymore... I live in the same stuff as you do and am equally as tired of it as you and your dog are. I loved your note to self! lol
Hang in there baby spring is on it's way! :-)
You still have a way of making lovely photos despite the abundance of white !
