I remember this walk through my yard one summer day.
Of course we had more rain than sun, so this was a normal view through my camera lens.
As I sit here tonight listening to the wind bang on my window....telling me that snow could arrive tomorrow, I am trying not to cry over a summer that didn't fully appear this year.
(I AM grateful for the days we DID have....but somehow I feel a bit ripped off;)
I am a lover of all things full of color, and looking out my window today I noticed that the white sky of Alberta winter is headed this way.
Yet again.
Thankfully I took MANY pictures of color over the last few months....despite raindrops in my eyes...and I am going to pull them out to stare at them when this white world closes in on me for another 6 months.
~i swear winter only left a few weeks ago~
One can always find some sort of bright side:
My skis have been loudly yelling at me to take
them from their shed storage~
I will soon be able to quiet them down.

Beautiful photos!
I know the feeling... just wishing summer would go on and on and feeling the winter blues setting in. And we don't get quite the same winters as you do.... some snow but nothing like Canada!
Just think of all that fun on the ski slopes ahead....
I'm not a fan of summer leaving either.
You should totally come run with me - I always run alone too except for one day a week when I meet my friend Steve at the track. It's so much better having someone to run with. But running alone is better than not running at all! :-)
Summer wasn't much, but we've had a pretty good autumn. Happy Winter!
I can't wait to haul out the snow shoes...only I don't mind waiting a tad bit longer tho.
Our "storm" ended up being a non-event yesterday. Will be 50s and sunny today. I'll take it.
Hope you can enjoy a few more sunny days before winter arrives. :)
Beautiful Dawn I feel the same way but I am dusting off my snowshoes. "Oh Canada" :) B
Ohhh these are really pretty and that green really PoPs! =)
It blows my mind that snow is already falling in some places... we just don't get snow til Jan! =0
have a great week/end Dawn & thanks so much for stopping by =)))
Enjoyable photos Dawn--thanks for sharing.
I am with you on missing the warm weather. In the winter, I am more likely to visit blogs about South Africa or Australia so I can steal some of their warm rays.
beautiful photos. and, yes. i seem to remember a very happy dawn disappearing into the trails on her skis last year. :)
I agree whole heartedly. Summer is never long enough for me!
What exquisitely gorgeous shots!
I hear you about the snow though...
Yeah we had wind all day too. I love your shots from your yard. I just have a thing about water on leaves like that. I love how they look.
I love how you always make lemon aid out of life. I love that you are getting your skis ready. You are such a inspiration to me too.
beautiful sentiments dawn♥
love and light
I ain't complainin'. I see that Texas is dying in their drought. The colors and coolness of east Tennessee in autumn are incredible. Thank you, God!
Your photography is absolutely stunning. May be I need to take lessons from you.Lol. Just bought myself a camera this summer and trying to learn to get the best out of it.

Hi Dawn
I know exactly what you mean about the weather and the seasons.
I am longing for Spring,
we had a rubbish summer, a very wet and windy autumn and snow expected this month.
I don't like snow, not one bit.......
Your photos with the raindrops are lovely.
I am wishing you wonderful weather.

These images are gorgeous! I love the serrated edges of the leaves and the water drops. Skiing sounds like fun, be sure to take some snow pictures. :)
Beautiful closeups! Love that shade of green...
I remember your posts in the spring. We were all beginning to see life emerging and you were still under a blanket of white. It did seem short.
You have emense beauty around you though, green or not! Warm Hugs.
Your teardrops on the leaves?
White/grey skies are the worst part of winter. At least that's what I remember from my years in Minnesota.
Florida is different, or course. We look forward to bright blue skies and lots of sun and cooler weather. Like today: 82 degrees, 54 degrees tonight. Lot of sun. No wind. Great day for golf, it was. But then we have to put up with 95 degree days during June, July and August. Ugh!
pretty pictures dawn. i love the different/changing seasons but our winters are not as long and brutal as yours.
i hope you are able to have some fun this winter!!
i feel the same way about this summer as you do Dawn. Awesome photo's! I'm so glad you share your beauty with us!
thank you!
At least you have something to look forward to next summer! We have the "dull" same weather 365 days and now is raining every day ~! Parts of the country is getting wetter as rain is shifting from Thailand now going South to Malaysia and Singapore !
Stunning photos, Dawn! The water drops on those leaves are fantastic!
It did pass quickly. But not too quickly for you to get some fine shots. Beauties.
You are rockin with that new camera!
Well my ski's will just have to keep yelling:) Beautiful pictures!
Dawn, I have the heavy dread of winter in me, too. I can't get my ankles warm to save my life, it seems. And it's just amazing how winter always feels so much longer than any other season. Of course, for you it actually does. But we'll all make it through. We always do.
We were lucky to be blessed with a real summer and gorgeous fall, after a very wet and cool spring. One never gets used to the weather in Alberta - it always has a surprise in store e.g. 4 seasons in one day. We learned to NEVER put away winter clothing, and to always dress in layers when going for a hike. But I sure miss the mountains :(
Enjoy looking at your colour when you're surrounded by white. These are a good start !
Those photos are just lovely, Dawn. They almost look like studio shots. Make use of those skis, some of us consider you very lucky not to have to get on a dreaded plane to get your powder fix:-)
