Local Afternoon Fun

Love it when there are places to visit right "next door"....we can even bike there!

Yes...we are Nature Nuts and love to check out bugs in a pond, butt heads/hands with the goats, and "survey" all the 100's of Birdhouses from all over Canada and the U.S.

Saturday's Trail Race

This race was amazing for many reasons.

For one- it was my first Trail Race ever.

It sure beats pavement and being surrounded by hundreds of runners as in a "regular city race". I ran alone for most of the 16km...just me and the rocks, roots, trees, streams, and scenery!

Secondly- I got to be in the race because of my good friend- the one who inspired and still motivates me to keep running. Just when I think I cannot possibly run any farther...I sign up for the next distance because

 She Thinks I can:)

Third- I got dirty!

For those of you who know me...I am a clean freak. Absolutely!

I fell in a bog up to my knees...and loved it. I don't think I have ever been so proud of mud before.

And lastly- I finished. 

And I want to do another one.

Makes me realize any one can do something they truly think they can't

...especially with a good person standing behind to motivate and inspire.

Week to weekend~

I have a terrible addiction to blue.

Blues of every color.

So when my sister gave me the idea to paint the chairs  I was trying to sell in her

 yard sale...I knew the color.

I took them back home, (kicking myself for even trying to sell them in the first place. I had forgotten you could take old stuff and make it new:)

....pulled out the blue....

...and turned them into something I would use in my home.

I can't wait to get my paint on the old dresser in my room.

(Is it wrong to want to paint everything?)

This weekend I am taking these:

and am off to  Calgary to run a 10mile race around a mountain trail.

I have never run 10 miles straight before.....maybe 9, but not 10.

I am really looking forward to it. If nothing else....I am always at home in the mountains:)

AND, I am going to be with the person who inspired me to start running in the first place.

When you look up....

There is something to be said for 

Looking Up.

Thanks to my sister and bro-in-law who took the boys to football so we could have this evening.

-And we are truly sorry for breaking your shelf in the garage when we borrowed your kayak:(-

 Trying to get a date in before our crazy fall schedule starts and his harvest begins.

We usually don't see each other much this time of year....so grabbing moments like these keeps us sane...

I think it is so amazing when a person has an idea and a love for something- and then goes all out to fulfill that idea.

I met the most wonderful person at the Farmer's Market Saturday....he grows the above blooms- in his backyard.

When I asked him if he really was from this province...{which has missed ALL the hot weather the rest of the world seems to have gotten this summer}- he said he and his flowers only lived 3 minutes away...and he grew all of these holding his breath while we got rain, wind, snow, hail, more rain and wind.....

TA DA!

They were Beautiful!!!

He now is having a Flower Show  this weekend to show-off his work.

And WHAT a display to show.

{I am a sucker for flowers and blooms like these.....}

I want to go just to take picture after picture...so I can fill my walls with pictures of these amazing blooms!

(I still cannot believe he managed to grow them right here in this province....)
