Happening Now

I love this picture.
I took it on one of my walks around a lake near here.

It makes me think of life.
How we stumble through it and all its troubles, just waiting for the troubles to be finished so we can get on with REAL LIFE.
~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin-real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin.
At last it dawned on me that these obstacles
were my life. "

~Alfred D’Souza

~~~~~~~~~
I came across this quote yesterday and it struck a nerve.
How often I have done this.
Waiting for real life to begin.....
It's hard when you feel like you're stuck in the same place and not getting any where.
It's hard when you feel life is preying upon you and striking out- using you as the target.
It's hard to remember that this path we're on...no matter how rough-
IS actually
Real Life.
{It's not the destination but the journey.}
I finally feel like I'm understanding this.
Finally.
~Now I just have to learn now to handle the rough path with a
bit more grace than I have been~
Have a wonderful day in your Real Life....regardless of where it's taking you.
It's happening now.
Your pretty first picture just brought back some wonderful childhood memories. We used to go for a walk in a forest with paths like that. All along the pond there was this kind of path, so so slippery when wet but so much fun for my sister and me to challenge!
Happy hugs for a h a p p y Tuesday, Dawn xxxx
Life.ah, yes..it gets rocky and slippery but those willing to trudge forth, we just find a new path.. as you will do ..all about balance..
I have to say that quickly approaching my 50's, I now have such an appreciation for realizations such as this. I also now fully understand the lament that, "If I'd only known then what I know now!"
This is exactly what I need to hear right now actually. I've been telling Noah and my sister that I'm just waiting to "get through" all this and get out and begin REAL LIFE. It feels like I'm just pushing my way through obstacles now and I really appreciate this post for today, no the week, okay my life. I may have to print off some of the quotes to put on the back of the door to remind myself that each day is a part of life and I should value it. Thanks!
Love the last shot the most. The road leading to nowhere makes me curious about what's on the other side.
Love those pics and excellent matches on the quotes.
Many don't take time to enjoy what is being served to them, until after the fact.When I see parents frustrated over what their children are doing, I laugh and think how I wish for that moment again.You can never repair the past, but can always work for your future.I follow that road where ever it leads me, and enjoy it the best that I can.
Awesome Post. I love the quote and the pics Dawn. How life can be tricky some times but how we always overcome life's obstacles too. It's funny how things work out sometimes. I know that in my life, I am not the fastest of runners, but I would have never seen myself the way I am now 2 years ago. With so many obstacles that made the challenge what it is. Take care. Keep Running!
You hit the nail on the head with this one Dawn ( but then you always do). Sometimes the most arduous journey and the one that almost brings you dropping to your knees is the most fulfilling.
Your photo reminded me of one of my favorite quotes by Allen Sanders -- "Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans." Carpe Diem indeed. :)
Yeah. That is a hard truth to grasp. I have always been the same way. "things will change when...." But they don't. Life just ticks along one day at a time. Its up to us to make something special of it all.
It's not the destination but the journey, I like this.
Excellent pictures and words my friend because no matter what is going on, it is life and without those obstacles we would not be who we are today.
I love your pictures! You know when I had my wake up call about life? My grand mother will be 100 in April. I was talking to my Mom on the phone and she was telling me something going on in my grandmothers life and all of a sudden it dawned on me, wait, I won't get to a place where I have arrived or I will be trial free or I will finally get it? It was like all of sudden I woke up and I knew it was time I grew up. That was two year ago when I turned 50. :)
I am a very slow learner. :) Thank you so much for your lovely comment this morning. I hope you had a good day.
So true, and illustrated so well with the beautiful pictures. Pictures really are worth a thousand words. That first one of the bridge is gorgeous and mysterious. Really nice, thanks for posting! And thanks for your comment on my video as well. :)
Your quote reminds me of something C.S. Lewis once said. Here's my rotten paraphrase- All those little interruptions are not just interruptions in life, they ARE part of life.
I really should find the quote and use it so the poor man does not have to roll in his grave!
Stunning post Dawn...and beautiful pictures on top of that. I had a similar spiritual post today...about us always wanting to get to the end of the journey when we should be enjoying the journey.
I remember Dawn when you had thought about quitting blogging awhile back, but something has happened and you have blossomed. You are quite thoughtful and contemplative. I like to think of myself the same way, but I think you are much better at putting yours into words than me. I've always thought of life as a roller coaster with ups and downs and sometimes when I'm going downward, I wonder if I'll ever go back up, but I know it will eventually happen and that's what keeps me going. I feel like life threw me a couple of hard punches lately and I went right off the track of that roller coaster when I had my appendix out and then in the midst of that my son decided to move to Idaho to live with his girlfriend and he's only 18 and not very mature. There is alot more to the story with that one and alot of drama, and a baby and then not a baby. So you might see what I mean. Anyway, it seems to have knocked my motivation down a little and I'm still picking myself back up. I'm back on the track, but still getting the car fixed so it can go up again.
P.S. I would have loved if you could have gone to Portland with me. I know we will meet sometime soon.
I'm a little late to the party, but ... beautiful, contemplative post Dawn. A quote I heard recently sums up fleeting time - "the days go slowly but the years pass quickly !"
Awesome photos.
Congrats on your son's 16th. Enjoy each day and NEVER wish time away.
