Coming up...

My oldest is off to the city for a
Summer Games Selection Rowing Camp.

And I am off to the city for my first
Olympic Distance Triathlon.

One words: nerves.
(And NOT of steel...or that would be 3 words.)

I'd like to think we are both going to tackle this weekend with
the same determination we've been training with.

But it's funny how scheduled events tend to bring out the insecurities in one's head.
At least in mine.
~~~
Remembering this over the next few days:
"it's all in my head!".
And this:
"Once you're beat mentally,
you might was well not even go to the starting line."
-Todd Williams
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Kick a** and take names in the triathlon, Dawn! On second thought, screw the names, just kick a**!
Best of luck to your son, although I'm sure his ability will have more to do with it than luck!
You know all those meters and kms that you put in the bank during your training? When you get to the start line, its time to 'cash out'. GO GO GO. and best wishes to your olest as well. You have a great weekend too, which I am sure you WILL.
I love that quote, it's bang on! So bring on those books and get this computer fired up...it's time to get writing!
And you go girl! You've got what it takes, you've trained hard and now it's time to go and show off what you've pushed towards. I have tons of faith in you! Where is this triathlon at? If it's in Edmonton can you please fb me in my inbox and give me the details?
I could probably sneak away tomorrow for a while and come cheer you on... well that and take photos of you. Just think, your very own photographer! lol
Have a great day and all the best to you! I'd wish you luck but I don't believe in luck, I believe we get out of anything what we choose to put into it and you're put a lot into this! *\0/* (me cheering you on).
and have a good weekend training or photographing !
I think I'm going to have to stop following this blog. I already feel bad enough about my exercise "regime", or lack thereof:-)
Plus, if you have the mentality to raise 8 (it is 8, isn't it?) kids, take spectacular photos, tackle the mean streets of Calgary every now and again, and even contemplate a triathlon, I think we can safely say you'll succeed:-)
Big things coming up for you... Enjoy it!
???????? What's the word, girl???
Yes, I'm with Julie. What news?! Did nerves of steel triumph over moments of insecurity?
I did 10 miles on my mountain bike yesterday. Feeling pretty damn proud of myself..
I love how you just casualy throw in an amazing photo every now and then!
Sometimes, I think, the training is the toughest part, especially if you haven't run that type/length of race before. I know Lois overtrained for the NYC Marathon and went into it hurting. She finished, but it was tough.
Re your comment on The Villages...not our pool; there are many, many pools in The Villages. But we live 30 miles north of there. The photo was taken in the evening so most folks were having dinner. And with so many pools, most are empty quite a bit of the time.
