~Weekend Mountain Bike~

(early morning drive to the mountains)

I spent Sunday in the mountains, biking.
4 of us  drove out to Canmore, Alberta-
hopped on our old (but working) bikes,
and pedaled to Banff, Alberta.

It was a beautiful bike, easy trail, and amazing scenery.

The newly made trail runs between the Trans Canada Highway
and the CP Railway.

When we arrived in Banff we stopped at the Coyotes Deli and Grill  (downtown) for lunch.
The food was wonderful and definitely not your "standard" fare.
Bagels with Salmon, Shrimp and Goat Cheese Wraps, Smoked Chicken Quesidillas....it was nice  to eat something other than the usual burgers and fries!

The restaurant was across from this place....I just had to take a picture of this car:

The 40km round-trip consisted of views which I was in great need of.
The mountains were majestic, hovering clouds were beautiful, and a rainbow hung over a peak as we pedaled back to Canmore.

Days like that make me love this country
even more than I already do.
***
I so appreciate times I get to escape away from the chaos of the everyday schedule ...
(and realize that I need to do this a bit more often!)

Hi, Dawn! I found your blog from RunARoundRanch. I just saw my blog on your sidebar. How cool is that? Your photos are great. You live in a beautiful place. I'm following you now. My "follow" picture is our two Percheron Draft Horses. They're my GIANT babies!
Have a good week!

I love your GIANT babies...
as would my daughter!
(We were just talking about her "babies"....her one horse is quite a spoiled baby:)

I really enjoy your blog...it sounds as though we have a bit in common:)

Have a wonderful rest of the day!

How wonderful to take a bike ride in the mountains! Hearing you describe it makes me long to go with you. Fall is the perfect season for it too! You captured the majesty of the mountains in your photos and I love seeing everyone on bikes. I'm glad you got a chance to take a break from everyday life and just relax and go on an adventure. It's great to take a well-earned break!

SO beautiful! I've always wanted to go to Banff. Someday I'll actually make it there (haven't even been anywhere in my old neighbor Canada! sheesh!)

Looks amazing Dawn...Thanks so much for sharing! My hubby and I both were avid bike riders at one time... For health reasons, I am unable to ride anymore and I miss it so! If I ever get better, it is the first thing I will be doing!
Health and happiness,
Angela

Found your blog via darlin's and had to have a look.

Wow - you just gave me a big hit of nostalgia ! We used to live just west of Calgary (Springbank) and went to these very mountains many, many times - we could actually see the ones in your first photo from our home ! (It's going to take me a while to get over this now). We've been back in Ontario for 8 years already, but I still really miss those mountains.

Lovely shots, and lovely blog !

Back once more ... I tried to follow your blog last night but kept getting a weird error message (blogger sometimes does that). It worked today. Thanks for visiting and following - look forward to more of your posts. (I'm reminded of the song "Country Roads, Take Me Home ...").

Canmore is such a gorgeous area!

Wow, Dawn you do take beautiful photographs!

Stunning stunning.

And how divine to have some timeout and enjoy doing what you do? We all need it (me more often than not) and it is what helps us function better as mom's, wives, blah blah blah!

That lunch sounded yummy!

Lovely, lovely pictures, Dawn. Although it must have been quite ominous with those low-hanging dark clouds overhead. Looks like a thunderstorm could have broken out at any minute. But I'm a prairie girl and that's what dark clouds usually mean around here. :) Thank you for sharing the highlights of your trip. Wonderful!
