Training: Mind over Matter

2011 Race Schedule:

May.............Half Marathon
June.............Sprint Triathlon
July..............Olympic Triathlon
August..........Mountain Trail Race 29km
September....Half Marathon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Regardless of how I feel...and when all signs say stay in bed,
I've been making myself get up at an unearthly hour to train.
In all kinds of weather:
And when I feel my drive is disabled:
I keep seeing things I need to work on:
I also feel a slight panic when I realize my first race is only 2 months away and I'm no where close to where I'm supposed to be.
And so...regardless of it all, I will continue to get up early and battle the thoughts in my head.
After all....
 isn't that where the majority of our struggles occur?
~~~

"To conquer oneself is a greater victory than to conquer thousands in a battle"
~Prince Gautama Siddharta

~~~~
(Note: all warning signals in my vehicle are just because there is a loose wire somewhere.
My vehicle IS road worthy;)
With the exception of the temperature...that was for real.
It is hard to conquer your own mind.
Oh so true. I can defeat myself before I even attempt something if I let myself...
Keep it up, dearheart!
I'm impressed! For a while I was going to run a marathon on my treadmill. It broke on mile 8...
YOU are going to smash your first Dawn. And your right, 905 of the battle is within one's mind. Trust in yourself and know that you will conquer each and ever single one of those race goals. I look forward to watching you tick them off.
I meant to type 90% but 905 :)
Always it is the battle of the mind.
Oh my gosh, you're crazy! :) In a good way. That's amazing. I'm walking the three-day breast cancer walk, which is 60 miles, in November, and I thought that was big. No way I could do anything semi close to the word "marathon." WAY TO GO Dawn!!!
Just looking at your list is intimidating. I am lucky to hit my goal of walking at least 30 min a day. You can do it!
You are very inspiring. I have been working out more ... now that a gym is close ... so please keep inspiring! Not ready for any marathons or triathlons though.
I think I'd rather 'stroke' an alligator than go for a run at -23C !! Both are a case of mind over matter, however - if you don't mind, it don't matter !
;-)
Go get 'em !
2 months should be ample time, it is the mind frame that helps you win.
