Favorite Things~

Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents to some extent a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it piece by piece by thought, choice, courage, and determination.

The Sound of Music is song is playing through my head.
You know the one...
"These are a Few of My Favorite Things"?

It's playing over and over (and driving me a tad mad), so I thought I would give it some photos as it played.
Except instead of "raindrops and roses" and "whiskers on kittens",
it's December~~~

O.K. now I have the song stuck in my head.. Thanks for passing on this song. I love Sound of Music and the hills are alive at your house. I think I watch this movie at least 5 times every year.. WHen I was in Vermont couple years ago we were staying at the Von Trapp lodge and one afternoon I got to knit with the daughter who was named after her Mom,,,Maria. Maria, the daughter was 92 at the time.. Oh it was wonderful. She told stories about her family and it was just one of my favorite things to do. listen to her stories..she served us all tea... it was delightful~!~!
ta ta for now from Iowa

The song in my head today is "Christmas time is here" by Charlie Brown. Have you heard Rosie Thomas sing it? Her CD is worth getting if you haven't. mmmmmm...that latte looks GOOD!

A nice theme song for this time of year. I did multiple poses singing it in Austria.I tend to like to use it when on the edge of a good cliff or hill around here. Lovely shots and thoughts. Your daughter lucks out having a BDay this side of the holiday, everyone is still in town. My brother was born 28 minutes after midnight on the 26th. Nobody listened to my name suggestion, Jesus. He had a heck of a time having parties, so my grannie traded her June Bday with him.Happy Birthday Molly!

Hey Dawn, Happy Birthday to Molly first off :)
SEcond, I love all the photos but the ones that grabbed me were the snow angel and the icycles; it makes me cold just looking at them!

I also liked your comments about character being more worthy than talent; I certainly wish people particularly athletes and 'super-stars' in TV, radio, etc...had these same feelings; too bad they don't!

Happy birthday, Molly -- but I must say your mom looks too young to have a child that old!

Love the photos -- very holly jolly! :)

I love that snow angel, I was thinking about that when I was out shoveling the other night and changed that thought in a hurry. I still had way to much shoveling to do and didn't want to freeze one of my wings off! :-)

I can see why you love these things, so special. If you don't mind I think that I'm going to do a theme day one of these days of things I love. I'm sure I can find somethings around here! ;-)

I hope Molly's day is filled with fun and cheer, happy birthday Molly. p.s. Molly, you're Mom's pretty darn cool, but I'm sure you know that already. :-)
