Picture Windows

I opened my eyes the other morning and was greeted with this sight through my bedroom patio door:

(Luckily I had my camera right there....I took it while still in bed:D)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And then in passing the front window last night,
I grabbed up my camera to shoot this setting scene.
(Sounds as though I walk around 24/7 with my camera. Even indoors.)
It got me to thinking of what is sandwiched during the day, between these 2 pictures.
What am I filling the in~between hours with?
Which then led me to think on this quote I read last week:
will wake up every morning
determined to go to bed
with satisfaction.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think it's all a personal thing of what leads us to that satisfaction.

For me,
it's when I unwrap myself from my own thoughts and self,
and focus outwardly ~on those around me.

I need to do that more...
for
satisfaction has been lacking over here in my neck of the woods.

Mornings and Nights ~somewhere else

I'm a sky watcher.
No matter where I am- I always catch myself looking up...head in the clouds I guess you could say.

This week I'm in Arizona.

No...I am still being loyal to my Canadian (cold)~~
but felt the need to absorb some warmth before winter really begins.
~~~~~~~~~
This was the sunrise which greeted me
as I  opened the hotel door early yesterday:
This was the sunset~ (or rather, Moon~rise),
coming back in from my hike last evening:
No matter where I am....{cold or warmth},  the sky holds incredible beauty.
~~~~~

It's really not such a bad thing to walk
around with your head in the clouds.

every moment is golden

It seems my need for sleep is being overridden by the need to see
every moment of the day.
I keep thinking that one day I'll catch up on my sleep, but Darn It! ...
there's too much to see and do  in a day that only lasts for 24 hours.

One night last week I stayed up till all hours of the night~ just because the moon was so bright, the night was incredibly warm for our area and time of year,
(and the wine in my hand too good to put down.)

Then  just the other morning my internal alarm clock went off  as usual...far too early.

The sky looked just about ready to put on a display of a sunrise,
so I thought maybe a kayak would be the perfect venue for viewing.

The following captures don't need my words.
{So I'll be quiet for a change.}

Moments of a day can be so golden.

And so worth giving up a few blinks of sleep for.

Throw open the window!

This morning as I walked into the kitchen to chat with my son before he left for work,
I stopped in my tracks when I glanced out the window.

{For days we haven't seen the sun.
The last time I remember seeing it?
Well...even if I look back on the calendar days I honestly couldn't tell you when it was last seen.
It's been more than a week for sure.
Gray,
white,
fog,
horizon meeting land in one large white wall.
It's been dismal.}

But this morning...I saw it.
It took my breath away.
I actually had to throw open my window to let in any amount I could.
(With our record who knows how long such things will last!)

There was no way I was going to miss a minute.

I think my son understood while I ran around the house looking for a camera to use.
And he understood while I stood on the counter to snap pictures from every angle.
I even think he understood when I didn't add a bag of cookies to his lunch bag and he had to do it himself;)
~~

{I was really beginning to wonder if we could still see in color.}

This Time Change

I always find this time of year hard.
Our sunlight goes south and we're left (on a good day) with 8 hours of sunshine.
That's 16 hours of dark.

I dread the short days.
Even this "Daylight Savings Time" thing doesn't help me! Who are we kidding!!!!
 It's still the exact amount of Daylight- we just changed at what end of the day it is at!!!
(nice try guys....)

So as I woke up at my "usual time".....
~~~regardless of turning my clock back last night~~~
here we go:
In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present.
~Sir Francis Bacon
Keep your face to the sunshine
and you will not see the shadows.
~Helen Keller
A gray day provides the best light.
~Leonardo da Vinci
Turning on the light is easy if you know where the switch is.
~Colin Wilson
There never was a night that could defeat a sunrise.
~unknown
I'm going to miss today's sunrise if I keep on with this.
And looking out at all the oranges and pinks-
It's going to be magnificent!
(Even if it is an hour late!)
Start and Finish
My start to this day.
The Finish (or almost finish) to this day.
{It's what's in between the Start and Finish that may not be so pretty.}
****
Aren't you glad there is always an End to a not-so-good day?
(And of course- a new Beginning that belongs to tomorrow.)
