Moonshine

I feel a little intoxicated with the beauty of this night.

My room is lit from the moonshine,
throwing it's reflections across the floor.
 Outside my window the yard is cast with shadows,
as bright as though day were shining.
~~~
Night holds a beautiful mysteriousness to it.
I don't want to sleep for fear I may miss one drop of it.
~~~
I walked late this afternoon, and stayed out until the sun
disappeared to brighten the other side of our world.
I was sad to see it go.
But now,
 I am blessed with this new light.
Moonshine light.
~~~
[Moonstruck=  Mentally affected by the supposed influence of the moon.]
That is me.
Dawn,
I love this line...I feel a little intoxicated with the beauty of this night.
Such a nice sentiment and thorough way to explain any of nature's beauty...clouds had gotten in the way of our viewing but I certainly have nejoyed the photos of others; yours is beautiful!
I hope you are enjoying all the preparations of the Christmas season and being kind to yourself while doing it...
I took a few photos of the moon yesterday morning -- we had clouds also during the eclipse, but mine did not look as nice as your photo. The moon was too far away at that point.
There is something very special about evening in the country. :)
The moon is beautiful and I've always loved the night. It's too bad we have to sleep.
I like to camp on the full moon. It allows a hike without flashlights.I wondered if you saw the eclispe, it was cloudy for me.I think you have approached a zen moment, there is a song that includes the full moon rising.It gave me an idea for two poems.
I love to cross country ski under the moonlight, especially when you are above treeline (not much of that here, but in a former life...) Canyon hiking is also fun on a full moon, as well as canoeing on lakes... Beautiful photos and nice words
I am speechless at the beauty of this post. So that will be my only comment.--Inger
Nice, although a poem about Moonshine could take a whole different direction, down here in the South!
Sunrises do that for me. I love to sit and watch the sun as it peaks over the mountains. I love watching the sky change from blue, to gray to pink then the sun as it peaks with it first golden light.
Now see. I live in the moonshine capital of the world. And I don't mean moonshine like your moonshine. I mean like white lightening liquor. You can even buy t-shirts (that glow in the dark) that say 'moonshine capital of the world' on them at the local gas station. So I saw the title of your post and naturally thought otherwise. Your moonshine is better though. The type in my area - it's nasty!! ;-)
Yes, it was lovely, wasn't it!? I love it when I can think of family and friends staring at the same moon beauty as me even tho we are miles apart...
Beautiful pictures! I understand--nature is intoxicating and breathtaking. I only wish I got more of it, living among these tall building in Chicago that block out the sky. . .
Oh my I wondered when I saw the Moonshine title where you were going . . . down here in the south moonshine takes on a whole other context. Your photo was beautiful and words even more so.
Nice capture of both the moon and your feelings while "Moonstruck"! Hope you're having a joyous week my friend! :)
WOW Dawn, I am totally impressed. I also stayed up almost all night long being moonstruck but my photos didn't turn out so well. It was so amazing to see such a sight! What size of a lens did you use to get the moon shot?
It is beautiful, although that word doesn't seem to do it justice. I love the light of the full moon that lights up the countryside, shining over the fields and the pond, illuminating everything around us. Much different than in the city.
I recall when I lived outside Calgary that I'd drive home late on a full moon winter night with my headlights off (in the days before compulsory running lights). It was so bright out, they weren't needed. We could clearly see the snow-covered mountains on such a night, 80km away !
Thanks for the rekindling the memories with your lovely photos and post !
I stood in the garden the other night in the freezing cold and felt the same way, Dawn. You have a way with words and thoughts! I could hug you for this!
Hello Dawn,
Lovely photo and words to accompany. I too am "Moonstruck", name and all you know. ;)
I started with a photo at 9:30 pm pst or so and periodically went outside... staying awake until 11:45 pm when the cloud cover indicated "no more photos tonight". Amazing to experience all of that I do believe.
We wish you a joyous and blessed Christmas this holiday season. Diana (moonstruck)
