To live in a Lighthouse

I once spent the night in a Lighthouse.
It was so close to the ocean I thought that the waves were going to crash through the window.

The sights one can see from the top of a Lighthouse  makes you feel you are on top of the world.
Or at least...on top of the sea.

This little replica of a lighthouse was found on the edge of Lake Havasu.
I kept thinking it was a perfect size for me.

I sure wish there was enough time in my life to live in all the places I wished to be:)

I wonder if it is the knowledge of winter coming that makes you think of all the places you wish to be. Beautiful photos.

Dawn, they are GIVING away about 5 lighthouses in the New Jersey/New York area. The catch is, you have to keep it maintained up to certain state and federal standards. Eddie and I looked into it just for fun. It would be amazing!!!

I have always wanted to live in a lighthouse too.
I think it is so cool you spent the night in one. I think it would be a nice place to visit, but to live there I think it might be to solitary.
Lovely photos though.

Lovely lighthouse Dawn.

I am sure the view must be magnificent.

I'm wishing I was somewhere sunny but alas....

Have a good week my friend.

Just what the desert needs--a lighthouse! There is one in Cedar City Utah too, only it's a little taller and there is NO water around it! When they built it (for a shopping center), I joked that the builders were waiting for their ship to come in... There are a lot of light houses in the Great Lakes area and some you can stay at.

Oh Dawn you are so right it would be a great place to hole up and write with the waves crashing down. Nice shots. B

This little guy is pretty weird, Dawn. Kay from Sequim Daily Photo just finished a series about her week as a volunteer lighthouse keeper in Washington state. Very interesting and good photos to illustrate her story.

there is just something about lighthouses that draws us in and makes us smile!! perhaps it's the thought of living as one with the sea, what an amazing adventure it would be!!

I would guess it does seem like the ocean is coming in the window...Thanks for telling me since I never thought of that before

Ah, yes... if there was all the time, my list would be very long.

Very nice thoughts to share. That top of the ocean would be nice to enjoy..

Picturesque and quaint, but can you imagine having to sleep there when the fog rolls in and the horn honks ALL NIGHT and the light flashes ALL NIGHT. I guess all the stairs would keep the keeper in great shape but how about scrubbing down all those steps--whew.

Interesting shots Dawn.

we vacationed annually in the Outer Banks, our family's fav hangout was the local lighthouse. We could only imagine what spending the night in one would be like.

Nice pictures! It sure would be cool to go through life a few more times living in different places each time.

I too slept in a lighthouse once. It was nice till the fog rolled in, and the horn kept sounding all night long...

That would be so cool. How does one get to spend the night in a lighthouse? It makes me think of the song from A Clockwork Orange.
