Temporary Art

Amazing snow sculptures I came across this weekend at
a college campus.
I cannot believe the work that went into these,
the time and patience.

I'm truly impressed that someone has such a skill for this.
Our talents in this world are so varied and can be so original.
Each of us have been given some sort of talent...whether realized yet or waiting to be discovered.
{The trick is finding it, and then putting it to use.}

Doing what we love and were created to do,
is what brings a peace and contentment.

~~~
How much time do we spend in our lives,
 on things that, in the long run-
 don't matter?
Very cool art (literally!) I am truly enjoying drawing again after so many years of not doing it. And if I can give it away to someone who will like it, then at least I've contributed to this world a bit.
Oh! That almost makes me MISS the snow! How neat. Do what you love, and love what you do. Certainly a good way to live.
You are so right about finding what we love to do. Only in the last five years of my working life, did I do what I really, really loved. And now I have my writing, my blog, and my camera and since each day counts, and it is never too late, I'm happy. Thank you for your always thoughtful posts.--Inger
To answer your question "Too darn much!"
I admire those than can turn anything into an art form. Like snowmen!!!
Real fun , i like to place them out where only a few will find them.Like the snow do on the figure, looks like they may have used a spray bottle to firm it all up.I let mine grow all winter and was threatening to get some gel and go the Elvis look. My daughter said she would pay me not to.LOL Sent her a note and said I went blue instead.Always get that last laugh on your children.
Those sculptures are amazing!!
I've been meaning to email you with some tips for your Olympic tri (woohoo!), but our house projects are just all consuming! I'll do it soon!
Hi Dawn, thanks for dropping by my blog today via Liesl.
I . agree with you about 'finding' what we love to do and being able to do it. It is never too late to discover that either.
I like your photos and appreciate what you see!
I like the 'west' as well, so different from here. I have family in Alberta.
Lovely! I don't know if I could get into doing art that so quickly returns to water.
Cool Dawn, thanks for sharing. We live in a college town and some students built a two-story high snowman--it finally collasped last week due to melting.
I think colleges should take their classes outside for creative interpretation classes and using materials on hand.
Dawn, there are some things in life where we may think we are doing things that don't matter and sometimes it's true. Other times we might be inspiring others, a support in a time of need and we don't even realize it or sometimes it just might be that we are setting the example... what is not so apparent to us is sometimes much more apparent to others.
These sculptures are fun, they look like they took time to build and at the time it mattered to somebody that they did such a thing, I can't think of what their reasoning might be but sometimes things are just plain out none of my business! lol
Enjoy all that you do and do all that you enjoy!
Very nice work, it is amazing what some people can do and as you have mentioned doing what we love makes it all worth it.
So true Dawn; who at the end of their lives would say "Gee, I wish I had spent more time at the office !" ?
It's a reminder we need often these days.
Great shots of the work of people who obviously had a passion.
Those are just wonderful. I was asking myself that today. Time to look at some of those things and make some changes.
About two years I was stuck in a rutt - not realising what it was I had right there in front of me. All I had to do was take it with both hands.
How lucky for you to have stumbled across a sight like that! I know that most of us do not realize half of the talents we have hidden inside...That last capture was amazing! Have a good one Dawn!
