Stating the Obvious

Sometimes....
you don't have to state the obvious.

It's just....
obvious!

Like why in the world are these carrots labelled so?

No one needs to tell me he needs a good bath.

It's pretty obvious I wouldn't want this window washing job....

And don't tell me this is even close to pretty:

Simply obvious matters.

Like when I was standing (and cringing) in the middle
of a corral
surrounded by steers
at my kids' 4H Day this week....
Another mom came up to me and stated,

 "You really don't  fit in here- do you?"

No.

It's obvious.
No need to be stated.

~~~
Some things....
 just are the way they are.
The cool thing about the whole "fit" thing is that the planet has so many different life-scenarios baked into it that it's a given that someone who doesn't fit in one will easily find another. And another. And...
I can imagine lots of places where you DO fit, Dawn. And whatever the case, we can always count on you to write about the experience with grace and care.
(Loved thd cow, btw. Priceless shot.)
Very true....there is a place for everyone:) Mine is just not in the corral;) Thanks for the pic comment. I took it from the Other side of the fence;)
Yay, you're back on blogger... state the obvious or what? lol I also love the cow photo, I'd be on the other side of the fence as well!
Enjoy your Sunday.
I'm sure people think the same thing about me at 4-H shows! Isn't it amazing what different experiences our kids introduce us to ... keeps life interesting!
I'm laughing at that last one...and maybe there's another color of carrots that we don't know about.
If the window washing job was mine I would never be able to sleep! Talk about nightmares! Loved the frothy cow lipped shot!
I can't believe she said that to you! She hasn't seen your pictures has she ;)
I planted purple, yellow, orange and white carrots in my garden last year...but the bag was clear, so....obvious....haha
Its ok not to fit into a corral setting. Think how boring it would be if we were all the same. Maybe you didn't fit in there, but I bet you fit into your jeans better than she did though.Ha ha! Oh my did I just write what I was thinking. That wasn't very kind of me. I do wonder why sometimes we state the obvious.
It is true that many things are obvious. But I have discovered that what might be obvious to me is not always obvious to others. So funny how that works.
Have a great Sunday, Dawn!
Too funny Dawn, You always make me laugh. B
I think your response should've been, "You're not really very tactful, are you?" Only I know you're too tactful yourself to say that.
lol that's awesome. sounds like a fun day though...
What an interesting comment made by that mother...I'm not certain I'd have the nerve to say that to someone really! But I presume it was rather 'obvious' or else she wouldn't have said it.
Yes, some things are rather obvious!
TexWisGirl said...
oh that made me laugh. thanks, dawn!!!
It's hard for me to imagine anything making you nervous. But at least you buckle down and do it anyway. :)
LOL! I used to think cows were cute..not so much in that pic!
Meg said...
Aww! I do like the carrots though. You know, just in case you forgot your colors! ;)
Gee, as we'd say down south, that woman needs to mind her manners...
I love the way you embrace the obvious...
great post obviously....lol
You're back!!! I seem to have that same feeling of "not fitting in" everywhere but a few precious places. I secretly think everyone does though. :) You fit in great in the blogging world! I totally missed you!
Debbie said...
sometimes we miss the obvious, just in case we do, there is always someone there to remind you!!
a place for everyone is a great message!!!
I don't love "masters of the obvious"...
You've got a great sense of humor about those masters! :)
I appreciate this post as I don't always fit in here in our "country life", no matter how much I like it.
Wow, what a great post, and what great pictures! That last one of the cow with the foamy mouth reminded me of St Bernard's. They are cute, but the dribble is disgusting, haha. All to their own, as they say.
OTOH, sometimes the obvious has to be stated so we can get on with what really matters.
Alan said...
Wow... shouldn't she be celebrating the diversity you bring to her environment rather than trying to expose it as a flaw?
And where on earth does Tammy live? Purple carrots?? Now that would be worth travelling for..
Discovery Street said...
that would totally be me--cringing too!
Hope you're doing well!
Jack said...
"You don't really fit in here, do you?" Hah! That gave me a big laugh. But, I thought you were a country girl. Wrong?
Maybe colorblindness comes into play regarding the veggies?
And as far as Miss Priss at the corral -- I would have said I fit in wherever I happen to be. Geez!
Rick said...
LOL - I always razz my wife a little when she says 'red beets' or 'green beans' but maybe I haven't lived enough to encounter all the various colours of beets and beans.
And then there's times when things are obvious to others but not to me ...
Great photos and post, Dawn (I hope my internet is doing a little better). Loved that shot of the old house !
heather said...
hahaha, this is pretty hilarious. but sometimes it's nice to confront and accept the obvious outright, right? that woman, at least, gave you that opportunity...
and whoa! your training widget says you run really fast. i have to admit tho, being from the states, i am absolutely crippled with the mileage conversions. ugh! on a side note, i really miss running, yet i'm finding it so hard to start it back up!
Lowell said...
Somebody actually came up to you and said that? Sheesh! I would think an appropriate response might have been: "Just as well as you, you old cow!"
Nah, I guess that wouldn't have been too nice.
Fun and funky post.
I've not fit in
much anyplace or
anywhere
but now I'm so old
I no longer care.
So there!
The orange carrots label made me smile. Then again, I suppose if they got buried in the fridge for, say, 3 or 4 years, that label could serve as some sort of historical record :)
Corinna said...
oh my...and they are a very tight niche. i would give her a proud "No, thank God."
Kim@stuffcould.... said...
I think what I would say is Obvious:) Great pics and thoughts!
bon bon said...
lol! "thank you, captain obvious!"
i do wish you could've included a capture of your expression from the corral. :o)
Mister D said...
Lol it's obvious really - to us anyway !
Funny observations. Seems that people often feel the need to state the obvious, no matter how unnecessary.
Too funny. I dread traffic. We have to go back to Phoenix at the end of the month. Too much traffic.
I thought about this post when I got home from work tonight. My wife had a bag of frozen corn on her shoulder. I said "is your shoulder sore?" She was nice and said yes, I said I expected "no, I like having a frozen bag of corn on my shoulder :-)"
