This Time Change

I always find this time of year hard.
Our sunlight goes south and we're left (on a good day) with 8 hours of sunshine.
That's 16 hours of dark.

I dread the short days.
Even this "Daylight Savings Time" thing doesn't help me! Who are we kidding!!!!
 It's still the exact amount of Daylight- we just changed at what end of the day it is at!!!
(nice try guys....)

So as I woke up at my "usual time".....
~~~regardless of turning my clock back last night~~~
here we go:
In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present.
~Sir Francis Bacon
Keep your face to the sunshine
and you will not see the shadows.
~Helen Keller
A gray day provides the best light.
~Leonardo da Vinci
Turning on the light is easy if you know where the switch is.
~Colin Wilson
There never was a night that could defeat a sunrise.
~unknown
I'm going to miss today's sunrise if I keep on with this.
And looking out at all the oranges and pinks-
It's going to be magnificent!
(Even if it is an hour late!)
Oh that's a wonderful way to usher in the time change! It wreaks all sorts of havoc on our body clocks. And the animals just don't get it. Getting up time is off; feeding time is off. They just think we're wrong. :)
Your photos are wonderful!
Hey Dawn, I have to admit that I was pretty excited to wake up and the sun shining this morning. I absolutely despise getting up when its still dark outside.
However, I will never understand what they were thinking when they made this little "change" anyway.
Happy SUNday. :)
I am totally with you! Why do we change the time???? hehe. So glad you were able to enjoy the sunrise - I bet it was beautiful! I don't like all the darkness either. But I love your quotes... great reminders! :) Thanks! Enjoy your Sunday!
I woke this morning and remembered to change the time, now I was up an hour earlier than normal Ha Ha
Beautiful pictures you shared and the number of colors in the sky has always impressed me, The Good Lord sure paints a pretty picture no matter what the clock says.
Thank you for sharing
Excellent photos and I love the quotes.
Meanwhile, I look forward to the cold and dark as it's better for writing. I'm close to alone in this outlook.
I hate it when the time changes. Too much darkness makes Jack a dull boy... (repeat)
Great photos!
16 hours of dark = no fun.
I was going to bed at ridiculously early times this weekend because it's been getting dark so early. I'm glad the time has moved ahead though because I'd rather it get dark earlier but be able to wake up with a little sunshine. It's so hard to wake up in the morning when it's dark outside! You found some beautiful pictures of sunrises! Hope you have had a fantastic Sunday!
Beautiful shots and thoughts. Still have my clocks on old time, not sure when I will change.
I say we abolish all clocks and just wing it! Love the photos ... no sunrise or sunset are the same. So uniquely beautiful. :)
Marvellous quotes and stunning photos to go with them ! Lovely captures Dawn - I never tire of these.
As for the time change, I figure it's a case of mind over matter - "if I don't mind, it doesn't matter"
Have a great week, even if it is an hour late ;-)
Wow, when you put it like that - 16 hrs of dark???
I am so grateful we don't have to do the whole putting back of the clocks here in SA. Our sun is rising at about half 4 and sets prob close to 8 pm at the mo - comeon summer!
I feel for you dear!
I agree with Alli... I'd rather it be daylight in the morning when I leave. The early end to the daylight is the trade off, but when it is cold outside, we're not out there anyway. It does take some adjusting, but I don't mind.
I used to love winter and short days, but this summer I had so much fun I don't want winter to come! It's starting to get cold! And the worst thing is that somedays when I wake up to go to Uni it's still dark outside, which really doesn't help me to get in the mood at all! When I was living in London sometimes I'd finish my classes at 16h and it would be dark already. Depressing!!! But I just try to find things to keep myself busy and I end up forgetting about it.
Take care!
Gorgeous! Did you take all those pictures?
I have a tough time when it gets dark early. It make me tired! And won't help to motivate me to run after work!
I too find the dark winters hard and always wondered what it would be like to live near the border where the daylight never changes.
