I'd choose walking....

This weekend I had a chance to walk for about an hour with a friend. She used to live quite close to here but moved about 2 years ago....and it felt good to catch up. Not that we haven't connected in 2 years, we have. But phones, texts, emails, other means of communication nowadays don't do friendships justice.
There IS something about actual connection, real communication, and it
means all the more over a good long walk.
With all the running, biking, and swimming I've been doing over the past several months, I would have to say I would choose walking as my means for breathing.
For connecting and having meaning.
The things that can be shared over a good long walk are amazing. The problems resolved, the laughter over silly things, and just a feeling of connectedness away from the mundane and often unrealistic forms of communication we rely on today....makes walking my favorite.
It's amazing what one can figure out on a walk, and with a friend it's even better.

"I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I
want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the
books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see."
 ~ John Burroughs

Here's hoping we all get a walk in sometime today.....
Wishing each of you a happy day:)

I feel the same way when doing dishes with a friend or family member. When the kids were growing up, we use to go to my in-laws every Sunday for dinner, my mother in law and I use to have the best conversations while doing the dishes after dinner.
You do make the walk sound inviting though....glad you got to spend sometime with a good friend.

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog! Our neighbors get rid of the nicest things!!! I am sure they love me digging in their trash. : )
I too love walking! I don't get to do it like I used to and I miss it so much.... If I ever get well enough, long walks will be the first thing on my list!
Health and happiness to you and yours,
